Beachy Wedding / Andie + Brady

I am trying to catch up on the sets I did last month. This is one of those sets. I did some cookies for my nephew Brady's wedding luncheon. It was  a nautical theme.

Brady loves the water and the beach so I went with more of a beachy theme. These beach cookies with flip flops have been all over the net this summer because they are so darn cute who could not resist doing them.

I also thought sand castle would be really cute with the monogram flag or their last name.

Some seashells, my sister decorated the luncheon in blue white and tan so I went with that scheme.

In these pictures you can't see the shimmer design on the blue cookies but they were there.

Andie + Brady = Wells! I thought that was cute.

It was fun to make these and the day was a little hot but the wedding, luncheon and reception were very fun and I'm glad our family was able to attend!

I wish Andie and Brady a wonderful, blissful marriage!!

Nautical wedding photo shoot

Back in July while I was at the Downton Abbey Garden Party that I took part in a couple of local photographers who attended the party asked me to be part of a themed shoot they had coming up.

It was a nautical theme for a wedding photo shoot. I was excited to try out and practice some techniques. I did some airbrushing with stencils, which is proving to be hard for me. More practice.

I also did some rope for the first time, using SweetAmbs tutorial.

More airbrushing and rope.

Sand dollars and star fish.

The coral cookies were my favorite.

Anchors away!!

I am super excited to see the pictures from the shoot. I am sure they will look 100% better than the ones I took! :)

My nephew is getting married next week and I get to make some more nautical themed cookies for the luncheon. Glad I got to do a little bit a practice first,

Summer

We had a summer get together last week in the local woman's church group I belong to. I signed up to bring a dessert and when I found out there was going to be a retro swim suit theme I knew I had to make some cookies.

I also wanted to try out the beach cookies I recently saw over at Sweet Ambs amazing website.

Vintage suits turned out pretty cute.

Surf boards, the flames didn't work out so well.

And my favorite.... the word summer in cookies. I tried to reflect the other cookie designs in the letters.

Summer is going to be over before we know it. I hope that you are having a great summer and hopefully a little cooler than the 100 degrees we are enjoying surviving here!!

Cookies of the Sea

Did some mermaid tales and sand dollar cookies for a little girls 7th birthday.

I used the colors from the invitation.

I like the sand dollars, they have a little shimmer to them but I was not able to capture that in the pictures

Used the brushed embroidered technique for the tails. I have done these tails before you can see them here and here.

Thanks Emigh for asking me to do these for your daughters birthday!

Mermaid Birthday

My daughter turned 4 this Month and after getting home from Disneyland and doing other cookies orders. It was two days before her birthday party and I realized I had no plan for her cake. I asked her what she wanted and she was not specific about it. I gave her suggestions but she did not seem to be way excited about anything.
She does love her mermaid Barbie so I decided to get inspiration from Barbie Merliah and just make cookies because that would be simpler for me to do than a sculpted mermaid to sit on top of a cake.

So I made the plan and told my daughter the next morning, she said no she did not want it but wanted a Buzz Light Year cake. WHAT!! Where did that come from. Anyway after I drew out a picture of what the cake would look like she was finally on board.

Here are the cookies I did and used the colors found on the actual Merliah Barbie.

And here they are on the cake. Excuse my lighting I was at my in laws home and we were trying to find a background and hey lets face it I am not that great of a photographer.

One side had the number 4 and her name.

The bottom layer.

The front side a simplified mermaid.

And I saw this surprise cake idea on At the Picket Fence and thought it would be a fun idea to try. I forgot about it and started to stack the and fill the cakes. So I had to take apart the first two layers I had already filled and layered to cut the hole in them and then I was on the right track. My daughter loves chocolate and wanted a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.

Here is my cutie pie with her cake, she loved it. :)
