E is for Egg....Christmas Eggs??

I signed up to bring something for the letter of the week for my daughters preschool class. Just so happens that my two letters ended up being back to back weeks in December!

The letter was "E", so I thought I would do egg cookies and since it is December why not Christmas Eggs. As I was making these and the minutes were turning into hours, I thought why in the heck am I making these for a bunch of 3 year old who will probably not even like them. But they turned out cute, at least I think so. :)

I was gong to do purple version but the purple icing would not try, so this was the extra one that was made.

Kinda bossy turns totally mild = Ashley

Can't believe it, the year is almost over and Ashley is the last n/n of the calendar year. (I will be doing Bennett in January who was adopted after I started my year long project)

When I started doing these, Ashley commented to me once that I would be sick of doing all these cookies and would probably quit before I got to her. :)

Nope, nada, no way. Now what kind of aunt would I be if I only honored a few of my nieces and nephews.

I have lots of memories of Ashley since we both lived in the same town while growing up. Ashley may have been what you call bossy, but not in a bad way. She just knew how to take charge, and was a pro at telling people what to do, and when to get it done. Well, actually this just usually involved her siblings or cousins. She was the director of any type of production that the all the grand kids were cooking up. She did not have a problem of keeping her siblings in line as well. She is the totally opposite now, not bossy or controlling, does not always want the spotlight and pretty darn calm. :)

When I think of Ashley I think of a dancing, singing, ketchup eating Dorothy in her blue plaid dress.  Kinda wish I had a picture of her doing all those things at once, that would be pretty funny.

One time I stuck in my cassette tape of Rick Astley (yes I said Rick Astley, I grew up in the 80's) and was jamming away singing along when all of the sudden I hear Ashley's little voice on the tape talking to her sister about jumping on the trampoline and listening to music. Well back in cassette tape times the cassettes will warp/melt if left in the sun which is what happened to this cassette. So I figured out that you could take out the tape from the cassette and trade it with the tape of another cassette, what I did was put in a blank record-able cassette, but forgot to break out the tabs on the cassette so it could not get recorded over and so my guess is Ashley and Mikkel were at Grandma's outside listening to my music and pushed the pause button, but on accident hit record and I got to hear their conversation ever more when I decided to listen to good ole Rick. :)

Now onto the cookies!

Ashley and her two sisters are all into dance, and are all very good at it. Ashley just told me that she has recently started teaching dance classes, and is loving it, so some dancing cookies were in order. I made royal icing transfers this time and oh man were they a pain. I made multiple and every one broke, but I just made do. I don't have a copy cake projector and until I can afford one, transfers are what I have to do, if I want some like this, because I can not free hand that well.

Ashley also said that she loves makeover shows, and she would love to be on one someday. Which I have no idea why because her fashion sense is amazing and she is a beautiful woman! But these cookies are in honor of wanting a makeover.

Ashley is also into fashion, and as I said, she is one well dressed lady. I hope she does not buy shoes like these. Now they are something that I would have worn in the fluorescent years of the 80's, but please no, not today.

And I had to pay homage to the her love of ketchup when she was a kid, she LOVED it and put it on her mashed potatoes. Ummm, not so yummy to me. :)

And of course she loves her family..... her stinking cute little boy and husband, her siblings and parents, and her extended family.

Happy Birthday Ashley, sorry I took so long to get your post up this last week was so crazy busy!!

May the force be with you Mikko!

Today is my husbands birthday! Happy 37th to you honey! Mikko is a wonderful husband and father and since I have been decorating cookies like this I have yet to do a set just for him. So I figured I would finally use some of the Star Wars cookie cutters I have had for a couple of months. I have eight of them, I used a couple of them a month or so ago, you can see them here.

My hubby is a Star Wars fan of course. What man is not? I know there are a few who could care less but it pretty much is a given that guys like Star Wars. I made him a platter of these to take to his work today so that he could share them with his co-workers who I hope think they are just as cool as Mikko does.

Hopefully they actually make it to work and that Mikko does not eat them on the train ride into downtown!

Lions, Hippos, Giraffes oh my!

I forgot to post this picture of these Zoo animals cookies I did my cousin in Colorado. She was having a Zoo   Animal themed party for her daughter and she asked me to make some for her. I think they turned out quite cute and I give credit to Sugarbelle on the Hippos and Giraffes as they are her design.

I was so nervous to ship these but my cousin told me that they arrived safe and sound although they were a day later than the post office said they would get there!!

Elizabeth's Christening

I got the privilege to do cookies for a Finnish family that has moved to Utah recently. Tuija and her family are some of the nicest people around. There little Elizabeth was christened a couple of weeks ago and Tuija wanted some cookies and a cake for the celebration gathering following the christening.

I also made some Karelian Pies or as the Finns call it karjalanpiirakka. They are a savory pastry made of a rye crust with a rice porridge filling. You think top it with egg butter and they are so delicious  Seriously I love them, they are my most favorite Finnish food.

I was not in love with my finished product on the top tier of this cake. Just makes me realize that I need to be a better planner and maybe I should not try to cover cakes with fondant, I should just stick to butter cream. :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope that you all have a wonderful day getting stuffed with stuffing (my favorite) turkey, pies etc etc etc.

Here is what I did this week. I made the cookies for the winner of the drawing I had a few weeks ago of fall cookies. Congrats Brittany! Then I did a few thanksgiving cookies for my husbands family Thanksgiving gathering.

I tried some airbrushing on these cookies. I got the airbrush a month ago but just have not had the time to play with it.

These next cookies look just like the ones I did for cookie con but with different colors.

I also made some of the cookies Pumpkin spiced, you just add the same spices you put in pumpkin pie to your cookie recipe along with some brown sugar, which I forgot to do. :)

And these are the cookies that we are going to enjoy today!

I was totally inspired by Lilaloa and Sugarbelle on the turkeys. I love those ladies! In fact I got to meet Callye of Sugarbelle at Cookie Con.... see pic below.

I would love to meet Georgeanne of Lila Loa but she lives in Korea, she sure is one talented woman.

OK after today you can turn on your Christmas lights and listen to Christmas music! I so don't like going from Halloween to Christmas. I love Thanksgiving and wish it didn't get passed over so easily. :)

Mr. Athletic takes time for kids = Zach

Zach rounds out the tribute for the Wells children. Zach is the fourth child of my sister Kanani's and second boy. To see his siblings posts you can click on their names. Kelsey, Brady, McKenzie, and Sydnee.

***So I totally forgot to add this other memory I have of Zach and picture I have to prove it. I can't remember why my family was getting together, I think it was after a graduation or something, maybe it was my college graduation, oh well.....anyway  we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant well little Zach was asleep was a sleep when we got there but later when he woke up he was hungry and just went to town downing the chips and salsa. He even ate the salsa with out chips. It was spicy  Just proves that this kids was tough as nails even as a toddler!***

Zach is of course just as athletic as all the other Wells, but he and his younger sister do not do the swimming like their older three siblings, but soccer is in their blood. As far as I know my sister never played soccer and I don't think their dad did either, but they definitely have a competitive streak and it was successfully transferred to the next generation. :)

When I say we are going to go over to Zach's house, there are cheers and chants in my home. My two little ones love Zach and especially my boy. He worships Zach and wants to hang out with him the whole time we are over there. Zachary has been a wonderful in being willing to hang out with them and play with them. As he has gotten older he may not be too enthusiastic in doing it, but he will do it and I am grateful that he does.

My sister sent me Zach's favorites, and I guess I just saw what I wanted to see. She said that he loves Pizzokies, a dessert made of chocolate chip cookie dough cookie in a little pan and topped with ice cream.

In my mind just chocolate chip cookies stuck in my mind so I made these.

Soccer is not the only sport he loves, my sister sent me quite a few sports that he loves, and I chose a couple that I have not done over and over. He loves Tennis.

And Ping Pong.

Kanani also said that he loves his iPod, she thinks that it might actually be glued to his hand!!

Seems like these siblings seem to share a quite a few of their favs and music is another one of those.
He loves the music of Carrie Underwood and Taylor Swift. I swear to you that these profiles are really of these ladies. Carrie is on the left and Taylor on the right. I printed out their pictures and I cut them out on edible paper.
These are the images I used.

My frosting was a little too thick so they don't look as smooth as they could have.

Happy Birthday Zachary thanks for being such a great role model for my little ones to look up to.

3 days = 200 cookies

Thanks to another fellow cookier that found me through the CookieCon Facebook page. I got a to fulfill a 200 Logo cookie order. It took me 3 days to do it and I was happy when it was all done. :)

The company was having a corporate event and wanted there Logo on 200 cookies. With this Logo the only way to go was to make edible images. It was quite the task to get the right color of orange it needed to be.

This is what 200 cookies look like all bagged, tied and boxed up.

“You’re Killing Me Smalls! - Joshua

Josh is the second child of my sister Kristine. Right now he is serving an LDS mission in San Diego California. I had planned to mail his cookies to him, but right after I had baked his cookies, I read his weekly email he sends to his family, and he just got transferred into the middle of the desert and he only gets mail once a month now! That really put a damper on my plans of mailing them to him, because I am not sure when he actually gets the mail so I just decided to put the un-decorated cookies in the freezer and I decorated them before I came down south to visit my family. So Josh did not get to enjoy these, but his siblings and parents did instead. :)

Josh is a pretty big kid and I think it might be because he can down a couple of gallons of milk all by himself in less than a week. His poor mom spends a lot of money on milk when he was living at home. So I had to do some milk cookies!

And of course since he is serving in California right now I did some state of California cookies.

My memory of Josh is why I did the next cookie. My sister and her family live in the same town as my parents, and every Sunday those that are in Kanab also go to my parents for Sunday dinner. Seriously, it is the best day of the week. We get to enjoy each other's company and my mother's home cooking. Well while I was living at home probably during a summer break from college, I remember every Sunday the Barton clan would arrive and Josh would come running in and first thing he would do was stick in a video tape into the VCR and watch a movie. That movie was "The Sandlot". This is a great movie and if you have not seen it or your kids have not seen it you should rent it or Netflix it. It is a cute funny show and it was also filmed in my home state Utah.

So many great quotes from this show.

"The kid is an L7 weenie!" or my favorite
"This pop isn't workin', Benny! I'm bakin' like a toasted cheese-it! It's so hot here!"

Josh could sit in front of the TV and act and quote every line of this movie as a little kid. When he gets back maybe we will have to see if he can still do it. :)

And of course some Super Heroes! Josh loves all superheroes. I couldn't go wrong in which ones to do because he supposedly loves them all! I recently got the Williams Sonoma Hero set so I tried out these three guys.

The whole group.
Happy Birthday Josh!
